Emerging Artists Program — Eligibility

The Emerging Artists Program of the 4th Iranian Music Festival Australia provides a performance platform for emerging artists developing original work connected to Iranian music and its contemporary practice.

To be eligible, applications should meet the following criteria:

• Applications may be submitted by solo artists, duos or trios.

• The proposed performance should consist primarily of original music or original creative work.

• The work should have a meaningful connection to Iranian music, musical traditions or cultural context. This may include traditional, contemporary, experimental or cross-cultural approaches.

• Cross-cultural projects are welcome where Iranian musical or cultural influences form a clear part of the artistic work.

• Applicants must be available for a performance in Sydney during the last weekend of March or the first weekend of April 2027. Final dates will be confirmed with selected artists.

• The proposed work must be suitable for live performance and achievable within the technical framework of the festival.

Applications are assessed based on artistic quality, originality, relevance to the festival, strength of the proposed performance, technical feasibility and contribution to the overall diversity of the 2027 program.

Expressions of Interest close on 20 November 2026.

Following the application deadline, shortlisted and selected artists will be contacted by the end of November 2026.
